Blood Pressure Blasters

Blood pressure is the measurement of the pressure exerted against the walls of the arteries as blood flows through them. You may be overweight or you could be in what you think is the best shape of your life, regardless, you could very well be at risk for high blood pressure. According to the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, 1 in every 3 adults, about 72 million people, suffer from hypertension (high blood pressure). Because hypertension has minimal overt symptoms (it is called ‘the silent killer’), unless you visit your doc, you could be a walking time bomb. Below are some descriptions of blood pressure blasters that can send your numbers through the roof.

Your Spare Tire
Once your skin starts hanging over your beltline or your ass has to squeeze into a stadium seat, you are officially a fat fuck. Weight gain is one of the primary causes of high blood pressure. Cardiac output is increased with weight gain making the heart work that much harder. It can causes lethargy, breathlessness and an overall low quality of life. The vascular lining of normal tissue is made up of flat endothelial cells which emit natural chemicals that assist in preventing clot and plaque formation. When you gain weight these cells become dysfunctional causing vascular plaque buildup and extremely challenged blood flow, which can lead to heart disease. Take it from Dr. Virend K. Somers, a professor of medicine at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, “There is something about fat deposited in the belly that makes it potentially hazardous to health, because impaired endothelial function has been linked to increased risk of high blood pressure and blood vessel disease,”

Blasted by Smoking
How does smoking contribute to high blood pressure? Check it out:
• Nicotine raises cholesterol levels in the body.
• CO2 decreases oxygen causing the heart to work harder.
• Gases and other cigarette particulates create COPD, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder.

Box and Can Diet
If you are eating all the foods you know are bad for you on a regular basis then say hello to high blood pressure. Foods such as processed meats, sugars, salt and dairy all contribute to clogging your arteries and taxing your heart. Eat more ‘live’ foods like fruits and vegetables and replace soda with water. Eat better and decrease your chances of being a slave to pharmaceutical medicine or collapsing onto your desk from a heart attack.

Move Your Ballbag
If you sit around watching ‘Jersey Shore’ all day then chances are, eventually, your doc will diagnose high blood pressure. The best way to blow it out is to get moving. You want to increase your heart rate above 160 beats per minute to burn some fat and get your blood moving (always check with your doc first before any workout regiment especially if you struggle with health challenged issues).

These are a few blood pressure blasters to think about and fix. Keep the heart happy and you’ll be able to play teacher-seduces-female-student or cop-pulls-over-horny-female-driver all day long.
